Ab-orexia?!

Abs, abs, abs, it’s all about the abs!

A healthy lifestyle including sports and clean eating is a big trend at the moment. More and more people join the healthy lifestyle movement. Don’t get me wrong, I like the fact that people choose for a healthier lifestyle. I actually encourage this! Why else would I have started this blog?! ;)

However, I think it’s important to know what you’re doing and you have to have the right knowledge when you start eating clean and exercise 4 times a week. You have to know what the right training schedule and the right nutrition is for you.

A lot of people just start exercising like a maniac, and they don’t know what they’re doing.

When you practice sports 3 or 4 times a week, you’ll need to adjust your diet. For example, you will need more proteins when you are that active. If you don’t get the right nutrition, you will get tired and you will not feel good at all. This because of the lack of proper nutrients. Just starving yourself to get the perfect abs is absolutely NOT healthy.

It’s HARD for girls to get a six pack. Your fat percentage has to be VERY low, to even get abs. Which is not realistic for most girls. When the fat percentage of a women drops below 14%, it can cause problems with menstruation and that isn’t a sign of a healthy body, don’t you think?! So please be careful lowering your body fat percentage.

My advice to you is do not focus on getting visible abs! Focus on improving your eating habits and toning your body in your own way. More importantly don’t compare yourself with others. Everybody has a different body type!

Set your goals, but do not set them too high. One step at a time, there is no need to rush ;) Focus on what feels good for you! Don’t make the healthy lifestyle a crazy obsession. Because when something becomes an obsession you don’t allow yourself to enjoy anymore.  Allow yourself to enjoy a proper cheatmeal or a good glass of wine every now and then. Don’t we all need this?

Some scientists say being muscled is the new anorexia #strongisthenewskinny…. What do you think?
